The toughest wrench for professionalsUncorked pipe wrench
Its specificity? An entry chamfer, designed by our R&D team, to save you time.
- Ultra-resistant steel.
- Hot bent.
- Deep punching.
- MOB exclusive entry chamfer.
THE ADVANTAGES OF A PIPE WRENCH
- Use on threaded rod. The short head is open for full passage of rods. This is not the case with a classic socket and ratchet, for example.
- The second advantage is its power. It is possible to apply a significant force or tightening torque in one direction thanks to the grip and the lever arm. Its solid structure makes it the strongest type of key and a highly appreciated tool in mechanics. In addition, it is possible to engage a rod in the open eye to have even more power.
- On the long side, it is possible to maneuver a hard-to-reach nut in the other direction.

The disadvantage of the pipe wrench, on the other hand, is its weight, linked to the fact that they have a solid body. This makes them very rare in mobile maintenance compositions, where there are more sockets / ratchets and lighter combination wrenches.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT QUALITY wrench
COLD OR HOT ANGLED WRENCHES
Cold bent socket wrenches are of lower quality than hot bent wrenches. The enormous advantage of hot forging is the respect of the fiber structure of the steel, which is not weakened by the change in shape, but on the contrary reorganized in its molecular structure.
MONOBLOC VERSUS WELDED
Some pipe wrenches are welded and not one-piece. Without this being detected from the outside once finished, they are obviously of lower quality than one-piece wrenches.

PUNCHING DEPTH
The long side is mostly full which guarantees the resistance of the key. On the other hand, at its end the key is punched, which allows use with a threaded rod or nut mounted on an overflowing ring. The different keys on the market have more or less significant hallmarks.
We recommend deep punching, which is more practical. Thus on a 24mm key, the punching is 65mm minimum.
STEEL GRADES
The choice of steel is fundamental to guarantee the longevity of a wrench. Most premium pipe wrenches are made from Chrome Vanadium, the best alloy steel for wrenches.
For a spanner that must withstand significant stresses, the expected mechanical properties of steel are as follows:
- High hardness, allowing the tool not to be damaged over time. Quenching (heat treatment) greatly increases hardness, but not all steels are able to withstand quenching. The contribution of carbon to iron is thus essential. It hardens the iron and increases its tensile strength.
- Elasticity and impact resistance. The disadvantage of hard steel is that it is fragile and brittle. Thus, to maintain high hardness while increasing resistance to shock and the ability to deform, it is necessary to use special steels, alloy steels with the addition of metals which have their own particularities.
- The first element is Chromium, which increases resistance and elasticity, and promotes quenching.
- The 2nd element is Vanadium, deoxidizing and which makes it possible to obtain homogeneous steels with fine grain.
The dosage of each of these elements as well as the heat treatment parameters (duration, temperature, tempering, etc.) are part of MOB's manufacturing secrets and guarantee superior quality. These operations are mastered in our factory in Europe.
The resistance of MOB wrenches is far superior to the specifications of ISO standards.

THE DIMENSIONAL PRECISION OF A Pipi WRENCH
Dimensional accuracy is key:
- When the wrench is properly adjusted, it does not mat the nut. It therefore preserves installations and assemblies over time.
- The wrench itself lasts longer because it is less damaged.

RESISTANCE OF THE 6 POINTS FOR A POWERFUL TIGHTENING
A hexagonal socket or punching molds to the hexagon of the nut and thus allows a very strong grip and good transmission of the tightening torque.

RECOVERY OF THE 12 POINTS FOR GREATER AGILITY
The 12-point socket allows faster nut removal. Convenient in cluttered situations or when speed of execution is a priority. 6x12 wrenches are 12-point on the elbow side and 6-point on the tube side.

PIPE WRENCHES WITH AN EXCLUSIVE MOB ENTRY CHAMFER
Among MOB's range of mechanical tools, pipe wrenches are renowned in the workshop thanks to the specificity of their entry. This additional operation in manufacturing allows the user to insert the wrench on the nut or bolt much more easily and simply. A valuable time saver.

QUALITY: HOT ANGLED WRENCHES
Our MOB wrenches are made of one-piece steel guaranteed to be weld-free, which makes it possible to pass a torque greater than what exists elsewhere, even with an extension.

CAPACITY: FOR MAXIMUM POWER
The long side has a deep punch, which allows use with a threaded rod. Thus on a 24mm wrench, the punching is 67mm. Eye height allows for maximum power on “high” nuts.
A PROTECTIVE PROFILE SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO PRESERVE YOUR NUTS
The profile of the polygonal heads has been specially designed not to dull the angles of the nuts and thus preserve them. During the effort, the pressure is not exerted on the angles, but on the sides of the nut (the "flats"), on a large surface. The other advantage is that it mechanically limits the risk of incipient fracture. A rusty, loose or matted nut can thus be tightened thanks to this profile.
