Ratchets and sockets

Professional ratchets and sockets give you the power to save time!
They are at the heart of tightening actions, thanks to their record approach speed. Discover tips such as the Fast ratchet quick approach crown, our sockets with shoulder or our through ratchets for threaded rods.

The ratchet is a tool with a complex mechanism, but is essential for any professional. It offers unrivalled tightening and loosening precision, as well as the versatility to work in a wide range of situations.

Why buy a professional ratchet?

For saving time and increasing productivity

The ratchet is a time-saving, productivity-enhancing tool for professionals. In fact, the ratchet's design enables work that would take longer with a wrench (pipe wrench, combination wrench, etc.) to be carried out with just a few movements of the handle. With an open-end wrench, you have to reposition yourself for each tightening movement, and position yourself at the right height to be level with the bolt, which is tedious.

Conversely, the dome-shaped design of the sockets ensures a tight grip on the bolt. Most sockets (including ours) have an entry chamfer that simplifies positioning on the bolt head. In just a few seconds, the job is done.

For efficiency in confined spaces

The ratchet is formidably effective in tight spaces. With a 72-tooth ratchet, it is possible to tighten and loosen over an angle of just 5°!

For the quality of its mechanism

The ratchet is a complex product, so it's important to turn to recognized professional models. Mob ratchets are tested to 25,000 cycles and feature chrome vanadium parts and a round chrome molybdenum head. The teeth have a strength of x1.6 above DIN standards.

But beware: the ratchet mechanism is not designed to force! It should only be used during the approach phase. At the end of the clamping process, another clamping system should be used (fork-side wrench, sliding rod...).

How to choose ratchets and sockets?

Depending on dimensions

At Mob, you'll find a range of sockets from 4mm to 80mm. The distribution of drive squares is as follows:

  • From 4 to 14 mm for 1/4'' sockets and ratchets
  • 8 to 32 mm for 1/2'' sockets
  • 22 to 55 mm for ¾'' sockets
  • From 36 to 80 mm for 1'' sockets

Depending on the number of teeth

For ¼'' and 1/2” ratchets, professionals are looking for 72-tooth ratchets. Some ratchets (such as Mob's rotary) can go up to 100 teeth, for maximum accessibility. Larger ¾'' and 1'' ratchets are 40 and 36 teeth respectively for a question of tooth robustness.

Depending on the handle

For professionals who use ratchets extensively, it's important to choose the right handle ergonomics. In particular, our ratchet handles end in a non-injurious rounded shape, which allows them to sit comfortably in the palm of the hand and is very useful when held at the end.

The shape of Mob handles “dies” on the ratchet shaft, smoothly and without creating an awkward bump. In fact, the hand sometimes descends towards the ratchet head, and this operation must be carried out without any discomfort.

Depending on their reparability

Some professional models have recently become repairable. This is the case with Mob ratchets. This means you can repair the mechanism and keep the rest of the ratchet body. So choose a repairable model - it's a small gesture for the planet! Kits and tutorials are available for this purpose.

Through-head ratchets and sockets are used to work nuts and bolts on threaded rods. In this case, a normal ratchet cannot be used. These special sockets and ratchets are used in a wide variety of trades, from industrial maintenance to carpentry.

MOB's Fast ratchet, the new reference in ratchets

Mob's Fast ratchet is a round ratchet to which we've added a circumferential head plate, enabling you to intervene directly by hand on the rotation of the square. This is very useful during the approach phase, when the screw is not yet engaged. It allows you to control the start of the screwing process, by controlling the energy you apply by hand, while remaining well aligned.

Usually, users take a socket in this manual approach phase. When using Mob's Fast ratchet, this step is avoided: you take the ratchet directly with its socket mounted, and apply a few manual turns with the tool's knob before continuing normally with the handle.

A professional, high-performance ratchet

The Fast ratchet has all the features of a true professional ratchet: 72 teeth, socket ejection button, change of direction on the circumference of the head, ergonomic bi-material handle. The design is French. Of course, it's also available in a 46-piece ¼'' and 28-piece ½'' set of hexagon sockets, bits and accessories.
